Breathe.

To make the dark birds leave.
To make things clear.

Because sometimes breathing is all you need.

But we’re breathing all the time. How could we breathe any differently? When it already feels like air is something we need to gasp. Now when we’re just trying to survive from moment to moment.

There is no reason. No light in our sight.

Not when it feels like we’re suffocating.

This is what we might think, when we see nothing but darkness amidst our dense crowds of birds.

We cannot be blamed for this. Because some of us are used to fight and escape the darkness that surrounds us. As we have always done and like that survived.

But in the end, when we’re running and desperately looking for a way to escape our birds. Eventually it wears us down. Little by little our strength dwindles, and finding solutions only gets more and more difficult. Until we start believing, that there’s no way out. That this is how we’re doomed to suffer.

At that point we should just stop, even if inaction at that point feels wrong. Therefore, we should trust that there will be a solution to our problem.
At that point we should breathe. Just breathe.

Not like we usually do. Not superficially and gasping for air.

But calmly.

By inhaling.

By letting the air heal us for a moment.

And by exhaling.

And at that point, nothing else need to matter.

And before we know it, we can feel the space around us. We can see the light.

How the clear sky curves over us.

How the birds fly away.

That’s when we start to see everything in the right perspective again. With sharpness and precision. And then, we are able to start working towards our solutions as we see fit. Because fear and anxiety. Darkness. Has left us for a while.

The birds will return. But we need no fear it.

Because we have this way to escape our darkness again. Permission to give time only to ourselves. Freedom just to breathe.

This way, the birds will never get us cornered.

So take a moment and try.

How does calm breathing make you feel?
